First things first ...
Okay, then, where were we ... Total Words: 78 Black Squares: 40 Avg. Word Length: 4.74 Difficulty: 3/5 on the AVCX scale (Crosshare shows Double Black due to a prior set of solves) Grid construction help thanks to Quiara. Playtested by Will and Ada. To any family members who clicked through from the link on Facebook - hi. Please save any comments for the Facebook post. This puzzle goes out to Ivonne, Austin, Andy, and Rita, as well as my roommates, the folks on Reddit and Crosscord who encouraged this, and my fellow constructors who were patient enough to put up with my nonsense, as well as you, my fellow solver. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it. Story proper after the puzzle. Remember - when nothing seems to go right, go left! Hilariously enough, this started off as a one-off joke for a meme I posted on reddit, but then folks started asking for this puzzle to be written. I caved and started down the path where I liked this puzzle enough to actually publish it as a regularly scheduled grid and not just as a bonus. To avoid spoiling the puzzle for folks who wanted to read this first, even though I already did somewhat, this particular post was something I already brought up with coworkers who were incredibly welcoming, understanding, and awesome. That there are other constructors in a similar boat as me is comforting as well as getting me hyped, knowing that there's a community of us with whom I can talk and laugh and cry and so forth. This was something that was developing for 20 years. It says what it says. I don't know who will read this "letter," but I ask that anything negative only be said to me. None of my immediate family needs to catch any grief. Please keep them out of anything you might want to say in anger or from a place of not understanding. ... Wish me luck, faithful reader, that this doesn't go horribly.
