Black Squares: 13 Avg. Word Length: 5.23 Difficulty: High Black Diamond (Difficult to Very Difficult) Been a bit busy with trying to prep some puzzles and with the job proper (why is it when we're losing one staff member, we're getting another student?). Anyway, have a great week, see y'all Friday for Mini #23, and remember - when nothing seems to go right, go left! Oh - one last thing. Small heads up but I am going to ease up on my constructing pace, as I am now on pace to publish 100 puzzles by January 12. Everything's queued but I will construct the February puzzles piecemeal throughout the Boswords Fall Themeless League and take a proper hiatus in December. This won't impact the schedule overall, but there will only be one puzzle for January.

Black Squares: 2 Avg. Word Length: 4.60 Difficulty: Somewhere between Medium and Difficult Couldn't sleep, so I figured why not use the opportunity to use one of my bonus grids, especially using the new name. As always - when nothing seems to go right, go left! Hey, folks. Now that I've settled on what I think is a good name, I need to explain this blog title, my name, and a couple of changes to some titles.
Don't worry, Sheydah and Ashmedai (15x and 21x) puzzles are staying the same, as are the Menaces.
I mean, I picked my own alias as a nod to the Haymarket Affair and my being an anarchist, so changing my site's name to Haymarket Squares seems appropriate. Why not have my smaller puzzles get better names than "Regular Mini"?

Black Squares: 7 Avg. Word Length: 6 Difficulty: Leaning more Black Diamond (Difficult) than Double Black Diamond This particular grid was seeded by my Biblical Hebrew IV class (translation/interpretation) having spent some time in I Kings, and an interpretation that stuck out in our discussion of a particular chapter - see 1A for what I mean. Have a great weekend, see y'all on Sept 28 for Menace #7, and remember - when nothing seems to go right, go left!

AuthorAriel Haymarket (they/them, she/her, it/its, e/em/eir) is an annoying anti-authoritarian leftist residing on stolen Kiikaapoi land. New grids every first and third Friday and every second and fourth Tuesday. Archives
